I actually ate some paleo granola on Saturday. I allowed a few more carbs right before my workout – cutting the grass. I have a large, raggedy yard so I figured the carbs wouldn’t hurt. One serving of the paleo granola is only 1/3 cup and contains 10 gm carbs. Wow. I topped the granola with 3/4 cup of plain yogurt. So, yeah, quite a few carbs.
You may be wondering if I lost any weight after fasting three days last week. I don’t know because I don’t want to weigh myself yet. This is like a restart for me, since I pretty much fell off the wagon.
My stomach issues have improved so much. I’m still going to be consuming probiotics and prebiotics regularly. I only take the SAM-e on nonfasting days. I have stopped drinking water with apple cider vinegar and eating lite salt out of my hand, rather than on food.
Now that I have finished the kombucha, I’ll go back to sauerkraut with inulin. Kombucha is supposed to be low carb, as the sugars should be eaten during the fermenting process. But I’m going to try making a more keto-friendly recipe.
The plan for now is to fast every Tuesday and Friday. I’ll work my way up to OMAD (one meal a day) for most days. And I’m going to try to lower my daily carb count.
I had the mammogram on Monday (all good, thank God) and I finally had the cyst (nodule) looked at. I’ll have it surgically removed the first week of June. I still need to reschedule my ophthalmology appointment, OB/GYN and colonoscopy. And a dental cleaning. And my father’s podiatry appointment. I know I’ll get it done, but I really hope I’ll soon be done with appointments for a while.
Thursday was perfect for a bike ride. The temperature, the time of day, the distance. My nephew and I rode for the first time this year – we only rode twice all of last year – and we were out of shape.
It was great exercise, but we made it harder on ourselves because we stopped and rested a few times. It was 11.4 miles altogether and we took our sweet time.
Even though I was ravenous after the ride, I waited a few hours to eat and enjoyed a wonderful salmon dinner.
All in all, a good week, even if it ended with the paleo granola miscalculation.
